Squash – Full Programme

Welcome to Browns Bay Racquets Club

Visitors / Non-Members are very welcome. We invite you to use our courts outside of peak hours (peak hours are Mon - Fri 5pm to 7pm and Sat - Sun 3pm to 5pm) Playing with a club member is just $10.  2 visitors pay $15 court hire for the 40 minute court slot.  

How do we play? Come down to the club, pay, play.  We don't pre book visitors. Pay the Club Manager during office hours and the bar staff in the evenings. 

 

Tuesday 7pm (run twice yearly)

Team Challenge

This is a super popular tournament taking place twice a year, run on a Tuesday night.  These are advertised to members as they happen and anyone can take part.

Thursday 7pm

Senior mixed club night

Which takes place every Thursday throughout the year from 7pm. This is a great chance for you to meet other members, get a feel for the club, have a drink in the bar and meet others who you might arrange a game with.  It's also a great workout!

All members have their own access to the booking system on this website. You will receive your own username and password once you become a member, ready to book courts.  Get signed up online to start your membership today.

Friday 5pm - 7pm

Junior/Intermediate

Browns Bay Racquets Club has a significant group of Junior Squash players attending the weekly Junior Club night which runs on Friday nights from 5pm to 7pm.  You need to either be a junior member at $190

Coaching, Training, Competitions

We have a range of coaching and training options available for juniors of all ages and levels. Our group squad training programmes teach juniors squash in a fun group type programme, while introducing them to other juniors at the club. For those wanting to accelerate their squash progress there are also individual coaching options available.

Once juniors have been playing squash for a few terms and can consistently serve and rally then they can get involved in the Double Dot Squash Junior Tournament Series and compete against other juniors from around Auckland.

Friday 7pm

Ladies Only

Each Friday night from 7pm we have a ladies only session which is growing each week. Ladies meet up, play games look at skills and drills and then have a social in the bar until you are ready to go home. It's a great way for ladies to unwind after a busy week.

Social

We also have lots of social activities in the bar through the year from tournaments on court, to bands in the bar.  The bar is open from Monday 7:30pm, Tuesday 5pm, Wednesday 7:30pm, Thursday 5pm and Saturday 3pm-6pm.

Squash

Interclub

Browns Bay have a strong contingent taking part in the year round Interclub competition organised by Squash Auckland. Getting involved is easy. If you have done it before then you will have a grading, if not then you will need to be graded with one of our team here at the club. Just ask!

 

Squash - Coaching

Double Dot Squash

Double Dot Squash offers a wide range of coaching and training programmes for all levels and ages. Programmes offered both through the school term times and during the holidays.

Double Dot Squash is led by Head Coach Jarrod van Driel, who was awarded as the Squash New Zealand Coach of the Year in 2017 and Squash Auckland Coach of the Year in 2016. Jarrod is an experienced and qualified squash coach, having coached all ages and level of players. We are very proud to have him at the club. He coaches many programmes at our club - the largest range of programmes available in Auckland. Jarrod coaches our Academy Level players and organises and travels with them on trips around New Zealand to compete in regional, national and PSA tournaments. We have several juniors who rank in the top of the rankings in Auckland and New Zealand and are a part of NZ Squads.

Double Dot Squash, led by Jarrod, has the coaching method of 'evolving total body movement and the mind.' They deliver an enjoyable and comprehensive squash programme and services for all. They have a progress plan and pathway in place for every squash player that joins their programme, whether you want to compete at the highest level, or play squash as a social sport.
